Blueprint Guides

CHEPs' research projects focus on health hazard assessment and control in construction work. Construction workers are exposed to numerous hazards in the workplace that can lead to adverse health effects, chronic diseases, permanent disability, premature retirement and early death. Families of construction workers can also be exposed when contaminants are carried home on work clothes and equipment.

CHEPs' recent and on-going research projects include:

Blueprint Guides for Managing Lead Control Programs in Construction
Blueprint Guides for Managing Crystalline Silica Control Programs in Construction
Lead Controls for Workers Engaged in Rehabilitation and Renovation of Steel Structures
Survey of Medical Surveillance/Asbestos Screening Programs in Construction
Survey of Silica Control Technology in Concrete Demolition
  Substitution Controls for Solvents

The CHEP research program is a collaboration with Hunter College, Urban Public Health Program, CUNY and is supported through a cooperative agreement between the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health and the Center to Protect Workers Rights.
